Soon... Been out of my working desk for some time, but I'm back with:

Only few minor things to add and the painting will start.

I wanted to take advantage of small trick to show the working suspension:

Tonight I would like to present the following set of rare vehicle:

I started making it some 1.5 year ago. Shortly after taking everything together it looked like this:

I added own thread and also the mesh for platform. Also I cut the sides of the cargo bay.
It was painted quite fast, but I hesitated for a long time to finish it. I wanted to make realistic projectiles for it.
I have finally made a nice method to weather them in a way that suits my imagination.
It was covered with silver acrylic agama paint, then I have masked the lines and sprayed some Hair Spray.
After that I covered them with green acrylic and made all scratches with coctail stick and a modeller knife. It was covered then with dark MIG wash, which upon couple of minutes was cleaned gently with a piece of paper. Finally some pigments and drops of wash made it. Ok, let's go with the pictures:

And it really is a small one :)

Only few oils spots added. It still missed some details, but it have the overall look I was trying to achieve.

It was ment to be straight out of the box. Few more steps with dust, some more oils spots and will be finished.

The especially the equipment look very sterile and dummy but I'll live with that - It was ment to give me some fun with the big side plates.

Polish Fiat 508/III "Łazik" late ver. IBG Models 72008 [part 1]

It was very pleasing announcement to see 4 different versions of some small cars used by Army of 2nd Republic of Poland. It catched my thoughs, how beautifull it must have been at it's times. So I tried to build one for myself.

The box is quite big and contains 2 sprues, a piece of clear plastic, decals and instructions:

It take some time, some parts have to be rethinked how to allign them, but after few hours of work one can make such a small thing:

I have added a foil as a canvas, opened the engine bay, make license plates from piece of PS card.

And it is small... It could almost be hidden in the box for matches :)

I have to reconsider how to attach the spare wheels, and then the painting will begun.

Tiger I from Kursk 1943, Zvezda 1/72

The Zvezda model is of very good quality among fast build models eq for wargamers.

I have added only PE mesh guards from Dragon kits (they fit very good).

I have used some Hair spray in order to get some smaller scratches. Finally I obtained:

It gave me nice ground for testing different methods. For sale on e-bay now: Clash of the titans - Kursk's Tiger I.

Chipping finished! First time I have managed to use properly very small brush. I'm satisfied with the results, but in the next model I wish It could be less monotonous (beside the smaller number of scratches).

In overall look it is not so visible:

So now I'll start some rusty chips, and begin mudding :)

After adding oils (some dark blues in shadow areas and white with light grey for highlights). The PAK received some different green shades:

I wonder how You perceive the changes. Sometimes, if this step is not overdone it's so hard to notice changes, yet is visible overall. So now i may start with chipping. I like the slightly satin finish now - after chipping I would like to breake the averall satin finish and leave it only around frequently used areas - when the rest will be covered with matt dust etc. But it will be hard to reproduce the effect in photos. Stay tuned for updates :)

So I have put a satin acrylic layer upon which I have added decals and made overall dark wash:

I used also this wash to start weathering the chassis:

Hope now I can fix all with satin varnish once again and I'll do some blending and aging with oils.

It was ment to be another fast build project. The Krupp Protze Kfz. 69 was one of the numerous towing trucks used by Wehrmaht. I would like to depict one when towing captured 76mm russian cannon.
I made use of two models by Caesar Miniatures and ACE:

The Krupp Protze miniature is very nicely detailed kit, with quite a lot of parts. There are rubber tires and a figure of driver.

Some are oversized, some simplified, but overall it gives a lot of pleasure during building. Instruction images are too small sometimes. The ACE kit is of short-run technology quality. So it could vary from box to box.

I have almost no problems with both of these kits, and altogether they went into this set:

As can be seen, I've added some handles from plastic wire and simplified tool clamps. The PAK received traveling blockade, new ramrod and smaller details from plastic wire. It was ment to be pleasure, so I omit hundreds of bolts in the PAK.

I have on my mind two visions of the paint work. First one was Krupp with two tone camo: green stripes over Panzergrey with PAK in two or three tone russian camouflage and the second was plain Panzergrey with green PAK. I have chosen the second one, as I could try some tones differentiations. Finally I've arrived at this stage:

So now I think about setting the decals and further weathering.

I have added small base to the vehicle. Maybe later on two figures will be added: the tank commander and one marching soldier.

Demag D7 Sd. Kfz. 10 and PAK (r) F-22 in Africa - DAK

The Caesar miniatures kit is of good quality. Lot of parts, nice tracks. Some small things to correct, some details to exchange, but overall almost straight out of the box it makes a nice subject to work with.

A couple of hours and it was finished:

I have exchanged only the two canister holder frames. The notek light don't look good, but it was ment to be a fast built for focusing on painting only.

I wanted to make it in DAK - 41/42 two tones camo: panzergrey with patches of sand colour on it. I wanted also once more to take some advantage of Hair Spray method.

After base coat, and few different grey colours, and first chips of grey coat:

Then I have started washing out the sand layer - with water. I realise this metod is more and more controllable in my hands.

Now i look towards filters, details painting, and washes... Also I have already a PAK, but that... will be another story - as it is ACE kit :)

Welcome.

During visit in one of mine favorite modelshop, I was granted for free a small bag with green plastic parts - It was incomplete UM model of one of its tank on T-70 chassis.
Then looking for an inspiration I found that photo:

Because i got for sime time at my workshop already built model of this cannon, I started to work on the turretless tractor:

I have replaced some parts, and also built one from few wooden cases.
I like such small project, soon next update...

I have added tarpaulin, oil leaks to the hull sides, some snow here and there.

I have added some earth tones to the down hull (acrylic colours) and first layer of pigments:

I've made this build some months ago:

I did some small corrections - hooks on the tower, grab handles...

Then I put some Panzergrey and with standard hair spray technique I haze added white, then chipped with water and brush:

Then I put it on a shelf for some months... And yesterday a friend of mine gave me the inspiration I needed to continue work on it...

After that I have painted some tools, and started to adding some earth tones, again acrylics only:

Now I'll try to enter the hull and upper surfaces with pigments. Before this I would like also to weather the tracks in appropriate way.

Build for quick project from africa - famo and morser. Two others - building one, so two more will be much more easily to build than separately...

And 3 x Famo from Revell. It's easy for me to kep the tracks and wheels separately. I've have some troubles with the lenght of the tracks, but it's easy to fix, and when building them around whells propably You would not encounter it.

The cannon will be finished in grey, and the famo in chipped sandtone.

Project Ostwind - the turret...

When I saw for the first time the awsome work of Alex Clark on his Wirberlwind, I was full of admire for his technical skills of PS cutting.

I also wanted to try myself something like this.
The turret of ostwind is a little bit less complicated. I bought a Part PE fret with the turret for having some kind of refference, and the building started :)

Just in case I made a copy of in paper and then I fit the builded flak. It suites quite well, and anything else I couldn't see. Then I cut the hexagonal base, and side panels. Side panels were later cut almost in a half, and fitted:

After adding the top layer of panels:

Not all the panels fit well, some I have cutted. But the build is almost complete. Almost, because unfortunately the flak should be hidden completely under the edge of panels, and in my build it doesn't. For now I have to take some rest, and maybe ver. 2.0 of turret will be builded :)

Have You seen some other scratch builded Ostwind's in 72 scale?

2 More Tigers II :)

On the desk I have put two models of King Tiger II. One from Dragon, the other from Revell. One of it will be in ambush camo, the other one... maybe octopus camo?

Anyway, for some time it will be cats on my desk ;)

As for now, the one from Dragon looks like this:

I started with some weldes, periscope protections, handles at the hatches.
The PE mesh is from Voyager.
I plan for this one an ambush camo.

Still some work will be done...

King Tiger V1 prototype (porsche turret) almost finished

I have added finaly some dirt and liquid marks at the deck. Before some final gallery, I want to put it away for a while. Maybe I could think of some more weathering, but now I've run out of ideas...

I have decided to bive myself a try at such interesting finish with a tank in almost fabric condition.

And so, I produced almost straight OOB such thing:

Project Ostwind - zimmerit on the hull of Pz IV G

The flak was assembled, and now it is waiting for some ideas what could be upgraded in it.
The Ostwind I want to make, will be the first produced prototype:

As was mentioned in the literature, after searching for the hull number, was assumed that hull cames from ausf G Pz IV. And so, I have finally find the way what to do with this very nice kit :)
Previous to the flak, I started adding zimmerit to the hull of Pz IV ausf G. I have made that with milliput white putty, and as this was done for the first time, I have made a lot of clumsy mistakes...

It was a good idea to cover some part of the wehicle with masking tape. When You work with putty, it will stick to the fingers, than of course it will went into the details in the kit. Next time I will wait some, maybe 1 hour, until the putty will became less sticky, then I will roll it to flat piece and applied it to the surface.

The MG ball mount and drivers vision port was also covered with masking tape.
I have forget not to glue the whells and suspension, the addition of zimmerit to the sides will be far from easy.
At the rear the pattern of zimmerit satisfied me, however at the front, I will add a spare tracks to hide it a little bit.

I will have to add also zimmerit to the fenders. Cheers!

Project Ostwind - 3.7 cm flak 43 from Maco

I'm keen on some tanks curiosities, rebuilded differently from their regular appearance, hence I always wanted to built Ostwind.

The old Hasegawa kit - I figure it out I dont have to buy this kit. I will try to build the first Ostwind, quite well documented.

The 3.7 cm flak will be taken from Maco SWS with flak set. It's a nice kit, with fine plastic parts, some of them are quite thin and have googd details.
The styrene that the parts of the flak were made from is white, unfortunatelly...
With this colour is quite hard to work, as it is hard to see the details...
So after longer time (the instruction sheet is for people that collected other pictures of this flak) I have bulded the flak:

The turret will be made from plastic and I will use Part's turret as a refference.
The hull will be from Dragon's Pz IV G, and currently I'm putting zimmerit on it.

21 cm Morser, 1/72 Revell 03169 [workshop]

21 cm Morser from Revell. Very nice kit, with a lot of details. I wanted to build it almost straight out of the box.

It was my first so big model in this small scale, so when builded looks for me almoust like 1/35 kit ;)
I wanted to make it in a towed position, with opened platforms. One should consider also leaving wheels unglued.

Most of the details were very crisp, only a barrel needed little filling and sanding.

Before painting, I leave it in 3 pieces, and in a towed position - hopefully some day a Famo will join it.

After sitting for 8 months in one of the boxes at the bookshelf, it reached cleaning agent and some painting.

I use very cheap acrylic car primer. I would like to compare it with Tamiya primer, but I haven't used it yet.

Then I used panzer grau for all the surfaces. After mixing it with german uniform feldgrau, I used sponge to create some scratches etc. I repeated making scratches with panzer grau after this step to make it more random. After painting tires and small handles and decals applying it look as below.
In the next steps I'll add some dust and more dust, but before that I'll have to think about some filters application.

After that step very diluted brown wash with hexane/turpuntine was added. The oil paint was first put on the tissue in order to drag out the oily residue, then it was transfered to small cap and diluted with hexane/turpuntine.

Shortly after small bare metal chips (made with panzergrau/black and some clear for satin) were added (again with sponge):

Now it is time for more scratches, but the ones that were made with dust...
